HISTORY OF HIPHOP DRESSING IN URBAN IN AFRICA

Hip Hop gained its roots in the early 80’s through to the 90’s and with time became a culture.

It came with its way of life like dressing, dancing, singing, walking etc. this lifestyle found its way into urban cities in africa and we picked it so fast.
The fashion trend in the Hip Hop world has been really interesting and in africa this is how it went down.

1. Baggy Jeans

In the 90’s baggy jeans were the issh and the wearing of oversized T-shirts was en vogue, not wearing them meant you were archaic or outmoded.

3. Wearing Your Jeans From Front To Back

Thanks to Kriss Kross, in the 90’s Ghanaian guys used to wear their jeans from the front to the back. That means the back pockets of the Jeans were worn in front and the front pockets were actually at the back.

4. Big Boots
Back in the day, it wasn’t fashionable to wear boots that fit. Young men were wearing boots twice their size.

5. Bandana

The Bandana became so popular in Ghana thanks to Tupac it was worn to almost every occasion. Some tied it on their head as head gear while others tied it to their wrist. Some let it drop from the back pockets all in the name of fashion.
