Urban Arts and Social Change

Here at Ripped Jeans Nation urban movement we embrace the power that comes with making one’s mark in this world through creative means. For us, it is our First Amendment: the right of free speech, and we are passionate about exhibiting, teaching, painting, archiving, and sharing the street art  and graffiti while inspiring the masses.  we will be sharing impressive ways that street art and graffiti are changing the world.

Art has always played a powerful role in history, and social movements have used its power in many ways. More recently, street art and graffiti have been playing particularly more prominent roles in current social and environmental justice movements. Street art and graffiti have served as a living archive, as a collective memory, as community representation, as building solidarity, in reclaiming public spaces, and in giving voice to the silenced. Thanks to modern technology and sharing capabilities, street art and graffiti have been increasingly well documented in recent movements like the current Climate Crisis protests in New York, Occupy, the Arab Spring, and in Ukraine, Greece, Palestine, and Syria. We can go back farther to the prolific use of graffiti and stenciling in the 2001 social movement in Argentina, and even farther back to the painting on the eastern side of the Berlin Wall before its destruction.

Street art, graffiti, urban art, contemporary muralism – whatever handle you choose to identify with, we support these artistic forms of the freedom of speech. It means something! For those who create it, for those who see it, for those who question, and for those who care. Huge creations or tiny hidden works, legally or illegally produced, political or aesthetic, we encourage these acts of artistic creation in our shared public spaces.

These artistic actions have the power to renew our world. These creations invite people to be outside more, searching, exploring, photographing, being curious, talking, questioning, engaging and sharing with each other. The street art movement is being considered to be one of the most important art movements in history. This is because of its engagement with more people around the world than ever before, and that this movement is not questioning the meaning, craft, or style of the art, but instead it is questioning the setting of the art. It has been taken from its traditional home of being indoors and only viewable by some to the outdoors and given to the people, for free.

So, we look forward to this journey into the power of street art and graffiti, through current day examples, as well as revisiting previous moments in history. From further sharing, discussion and understanding, perhaps we can renew our world for the better – together. We’ll leave you with the inspirational words of James Scott, a political theorist who has contributed greatly to the fields of anthropology, urban politics, and resistance movements:
“The question of what kind of city we want cannot be divorced from that of what kind of social ties, relationship to nature, lifestyles, technologies and aesthetic values we desire. The right to the city is far more than the individual liberty to access urban resources: it is a right to change ourselves by changing the city. It is, moreover, a common rather than an individual right since this transformation inevitably depends upon the exercise of a collective power to reshape the processes of urbanization. The freedom to make and remake our cities and ourselves is, I want to argue, one of the most precious yet most neglected of our human rights.”

Man leaks private photos of an alleged Akwa Ibom runs girl (Photos)

Pictures of an alleged runs girl stark N@kkd on the bed with a man went viral yesterday, but according to new reports by ZetbraDaily, she has come out to say she is not a runs girl and is planning on going to the police.

I wonder why girls still take N@kkd photos with their boyfriends.
Read according to the source below…
“The lady (Miracle) is not a runs girl… She allegedly meant this guy, who look just like ( #wizkid) last months at a bus stop. And after about two week of knowing each other, she decided to give the guy her package… The source said she was fully aware when the guy was taking the pictures, But didn’t think the guy will be so foolish to distribute the pics to his friends.
The guy wasn’t the one that leaked the pics… The guy sent the pics to a friend, and that friend sent it to another friend, and another friend-friends….That’s how the pic finally made its way to the Internet.
As at right now, the lady is planning on reporting her boyfriend to the police…OR the guy must marry her since she’s now famous for the wrong reasons and maybe hard for to get a husband.”
More photos after the cut…

While a source reportedly opened up to Hollywood Life about the existence of a private tape.
“Tyga will not sign off on releasing it to the masses, but Kylie is scared that a sex tape could get in the wrong person’s hands with one of his buddies and they could put it online to embarrass her," they told the website.

She is freaking out that something like that will happen, especially if she starts bashing Tyga in any way. If the Kardashians bash him, it would open the door for something like that to happen. He has a lot of power right now.”
Vivid Entertainment made an incredible $10MILLION offer to her and the rapper, reported TMZ.

ARTCITY SHORT FILM FESTIVAL DAY 3 INTERACTION ABOUT FILM BUSINESS

What comes to mind when someone mentions independent film “distribution”? You can probably define that
fairly easily – the selling and delivery of these titles to audiences through any number of means: theatrical,
DVD sales, festival release, broadcast and perhaps even online streaming.
3rd day of ART CITY SHORT FILM FESTIVAL workshops to educate filmmakers in the aspect of editing, production and film business, finding a means to reinvent a type of Cameroon marketing strategy to engage the Cameroonian audience and get the Cameroon films to circulate around the country.
people with high level of film experience have a long lecturing conversation with new generation of film makers which turns to be beneficial as they proceed with the business of film making.

What if someone said “outreach” or “audience engagement”? Can you define and distinguish those terms as
easily? We have found that these two terms are often used interchangeably – creating confusion within the
social issue independent film community, and in our own conversations. We hope that this paper creates a more
standard definition for the terms and infuses a new understanding of the importance of each of these distinct
components and how they work together to spark social change. From our perspective, distinguishing these
terms is critical because they are key components of the work we do at RJN Blog – supporting creative
media that inspires social change.

The independent film distribution environment is changing faster than most of us can reasonably keep up with – making the definition highly elusive. So, this paper will not attempt to outline the complex and shifting methodology behind successful independent film distribution. Instead, we will simply define what distribution is and what it is not in broad terms. Distribution is the process of placing a film in (online or offline) venues to make sure that it is accessible to audiences. Traditionally, this involves securing a theatrical release, national and international television
